The Butterflies

It's been a long eight days, but the day finally arrived! The chrysalises broke free to reveal beautiful butterflies! We started the day off checking out the chrysalises and all were safely intact. Then, during recess, Spikey broke free. By the time the kids were back and settled we had four more. And now, three hours later, we have another 10. I'm so glad we got to see it in action!!

We're excited to enjoy their presence for a few days before we release them (and are hoping for a nice, warm day to do so!)

Here are Elsie and Rowan, perhaps a little nervous, on camera, sharing their thoughts with you viewers at home! :)

STARR Shirts

Every Friday, we show our Wildcat pride by wearing red and black and/or dressing in our STARR shirts! STARR stands for being Safe, Trustworthy, An Achiever, Respectful, and Responsible.

I am so glad to spend my day with these 26 special STARR students! We have a class set of STARR shirts – check us out!
We are all smiles in first grade...

...except when we're being a tad goofy...

First Day of School :)

We made it through the first day of first grade with a lot of books, some math, a school tour, a little writing, lots of talking, several laughs, and not a single tear!
I think this group is ready for the demands of first grade - they are so eager to learn! Here we all are...
I can tell we're going to have a great year together! :)

Welcome to First Grade!

What a great first day we had!! It was such a joy to meet all the new little ones, and I'm very much looking forward to diving deeper into our school year! I hope your child came home and shared something about our day with you - we were quite busy and all of us were tired by the end of it!

I will update this blog throughout the year with lots of pictures, a few videos, and other important information. I hope you will check back frequently.

I promise to get pictures up here in the next day or so. Have you marked your calendar for Thursday, October 6th? Our Curriculum Night will take place in our classroom, and it's one of my most cherished time with families to tell them about our year.

I've also enabled the comment section for this blog this year. I thought this would be a nice way to write back and forth with questions/comments about a post or what's going on in class. The students will also get a chance to comment on pictures too during our computer lab time!

How to comment:
  • Click on comment at the bottom of the post.
  • Write your comment. :)
  • Select Name/URL
  • Type your name.
  • Click publish.

Thanks for sharing in this journey with me! I so much appreciate your partnership and the trust you place in me each day to create a warm, stimulating, supportive, and thriving learning environment for your child.

Cheers to our year!
