What a wonderful celebration we had! Our Stone Soup gathering was a perfect way to celebrate our first grade friendships and caring classroom community. Thank you for your contributions - everyone brought in supplies and our feast was amazing! We made cornbread muffins the day before (and had a nice introduction to fractions as we added 1/3 cup of milk and a conversation about multiplication as we doubled and tripled our recipe).
On the day of our meal, we set our table, got on our Pilgrim hats, and added all our soup ingredients!

Once the delicious crockpots were bubbling, we read several versions of Stone Soup and compared and contrasted our stories with a venn diagram. Ms. Hopper, our ELL teacher, joined us for the book reading.
We also made butter to go with our muffins.

Once the crockpots were ready, we were ready to eat! Robert asked if we could say a prayer before we all ate together, so we decided to go around the room and say what we were most thankful for.

Let me tell you, I am most certainly thankful for these great, kind group of little beings! Happy Thanksgiving!
